Year 10-12 Tīeke Dean’s Report

Kia Ora Whānau of Tīeke Kāhui. I hope everyone has had a great start to spring.

Wow what a hectic few weeks we have had at Hornby High School. We have celebrated Tongan language week, Fiafia (a Pacifica celebration night), and Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, Māori language week. I am so proud of all of our students who have worked tirelessly on each of these events.

Tongan language week began with a kahoot, Tongan sports, and ended with a traditional tongan feast, performances, and speeches.

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori was an amazing way to learn more about our Māori culture and celebrate as a school. Many of our students, myself included, were pushed out of our comfort zone by learning a haka and having a haka competition versus the other kāhui on Friday. I am so proud of how resilient everyone was, pushing themselves to learn the haka and I am just as happy to say Tīeke won the haka competition!

With the seniors only having two weeks of school in Term 4, please can you all take the time to sit down with your children and look at their credits, make some goals, and work hard to achieve them.
